Marita Vaskova

When Marita arrived in Portugal in 1999, she fell under the spell of Lisbon’s colours — the sunlit tiles, the shimmering river light, the warmth of endless ochres and blues. Her impressionistic eye transforms these inspirations into paintings that are at once luminous and bold, yet laced with a quiet delicacy that draws you closer.
From vibrant cityscapes to dreamlike vistas, Marita’s works open a generous window into a world where travellers roam, dreams take root, and every glance reveals something new. In her paintings, there is no such thing as standing still — the colours breathe, the light shifts, and you are always invited to wander.
PERSONAL STATEMENT
I find inspiration in the everyday — in the way light and shadow dance across walls, in the rhythm of rooftops, windows, arches, and balconies. I am drawn to places where shapes and patterns intersect, where scale and color meet in unexpected harmony. My work is rooted in the geometry of urban life, yet it is equally about feeling and atmosphere.
I love to experiment, layering silhouettes, textures, and overlapping forms to create depth and movement. This playful approach allows me to blur the line between realism and abstraction, giving each piece its own expressive energy. For me, every painting is a window into another reality — a space where my personal impressions merge with universal dreams and invite viewers to wander alongside me.
