Original Linocut, "Apple" - Print, 2/4 Artist: Olena Maksymova Year: 2018

A single-colour linocut print in warm golden olive ink, hand-pressed on a conventional analogue press. At the centre of the composition sits an apple rendered in bold, expressive lines - not a still-life study, but something more elemental: the fruit opens like a symbol, its core exposed in a swirl of concentric curves, while radiating lines burst outward from it like light or energy, filling the entire picture plane with movement and intensity.

The carving is confident and gestural, with the white of the paper playing an equal role to the ink - creating rhythm, breath, and contrast across the surface. The result is somewhere between folk motif and modernist abstraction.

This is number 2 from a limited edition of just 4 hand-pulled impressions, signed and dated in pencil by the artist. Each print is unique due to the nature of hand-printing on an analogue press.
