A whole town bleached and blazing in brilliant sunshine - white walls, red rooftops and splashes of colour tumbling down a hillside in glorious, luminous disorder. This panoramic townscape is flooded with light from every direction, the buildings overlapping and layering like a memory of a place rather than a precise record of it, each one dissolving into the next in a cascade of white, coral, amber and vivid red.

The composition is dense and joyful, packed with architectural detail - gabled rooftops, shuttered windows, staircases and porches all sketched with loose, energetic line work in white and black. Yet despite the complexity, the eye moves freely through it, drawn upward toward the cool cobalt sky and the distant suggestion of mountains or hillside beyond.

Flashes of green, yellow and purple animate the spaces between buildings, while the foreground hints at water - a quayside, a dark boat, tiny figures going about their day beneath the overwhelming brightness.
