"The Golden Shoal", Original Hand painted Artwork, Tempera and Ink Pen

An original one-of-a-kind painting of Olena Maksymova, from the Collection "Inhabited World", combines tempera and ink pen on 370gsm archival-quality paper. A shoal of golden and amber fish weaves through great swirling currents rendered in sweeping arcs of black, white and grey - each fish intricately patterned with fine inkwork scales and markings, popping vividly against turquoise pools of open water. 

The composition has an almost hypnotic rhythm, the circular currents carrying the eye continuously across the panoramic width of the piece. One fish slips beyond the lower picture edge, that same playful gesture shared across the collection. 

Image size 23 × 66 cm on a 70 × 100 cm sheet. Ships rolled in a card tube, unframed and ready to mount as you choose.

While the palette here is bolder and more graphic than others in the collection - the turquoise and orange singing against monochrome - it sits equally well in interiors inspired by William Morris and the Arts & Crafts movement, where pattern, nature and the handmade are celebrated.
