The composition draws you in along a deep waterway flanked by colourful quayside architecture - whites, hot pinks, magenta and lemon yellow tumbling together in a celebration of coastal life at its most vivid.

White-sailed boats rest on the glittering water, their masts rising like fine brushstrokes against the open sky. Dashes of red cut through the composition with the energy of flags or laundry caught in a sea breeze, adding flickers of warmth to an otherwise cool, luminous palette. The reflections in the darker foreground water are rendered in loose, confident marks - dark navy and white hatching that gives depth and movement to the surface below.
