When Marita moved to Portugal in 1999, she discovered her great passion for the outstanding colours of Lisbon. 

Marita is known for her impressionistic eye. Her paintings of a great variety of styles are bright and strong, delicate and intriguing.

Every painting of Marita is as generous window into the land of travellers, dreams and fulfilled expectations, where you will never get bored.

"My inspiration comes from objects that surround me, from the light/shadow playing on surfaces. 

I like subjects where there is some interaction between shapes and pattern, contrast between scale and colour - such as roof tops, windows, arches and balconies. My work is deeply rooted in the urban geometry.

I love experimenting with media - playing with silhouettes, textures, overlapped shapes to add the interest and dynamic to my works.

I intentionally develop my works in an expressive style, which blur the line between realism and abstraction. Every painting is like a window to another reality where personal impressions meet universal dreams."

Marita is a Fellow of the Society of Fine Arts of Portugal (Sociedade de Belas Artes) since 2007.

Her work was shown in various exhibition around the globe and is included in many notable private collections.
